Summary
A dialogue-free French animated feature that sets computer-generated insects against live-action photography of the countryside. After a couple abandons their picnic in a wooded valley, a box of sugar cubes is left behind, and a column of black ants sets out to haul the prize home to their anthill. A young ladybug, separated from its family, falls in with the caravan and becomes the colony's unlikely ally. A rival army of red ants wants the sugar for itself and besieges the black ants' nest, with discarded picnic items serving as weapons and fortifications. No character speaks; the story is carried entirely by squeaks, buzzes and engine-like sound design.
