Is Merlot Reserve a good wine?
What reviewers say
“(16,5/20) Blind tasted. Quite oaky, very ripe fruit (late harvest?), almost sun-drenched, but a nice acidity to balance that out. Great structure. Aged for 12 months in new French oak. Merlot again, wow!”
From a top-rated Vivino review for this bottle.
Summary
Dark ruby with black core and delicate violet edge whitening. Gorgeous aromas already in the nose of dark berries. Full-bodied, super fruity palate with cherry, soft and supple great elegance, slightly salty mineral. The fruit and strength combine in the finish again at a drinking pleasure.
Salzl Seewinkelhof Merlot Reserve is an Austrian red from Burgenland.
Its in-cohort standing is measured against 77 other reds from Austria, not against the corpus as a whole. 198 Vivino reviewers are calibrated for this bottle, and those are the ones the calibrated score reads; a separate, broader pool of 201 reviewers with at least two ratings each feeds the raw-average track.
