Tasting profile

A characterful Ribera del Duero with dark fruit aromas and a powerful, full-bodied palate where acidity, tannin, oak, and fruit feel precisely balanced. Reviewers find it delicate on the nose yet bold in the mouth, pairing well with Iberian ham and aged sheep's cheese.

Synthesized from 2,714Vivino reviewers' tasting notes for this bottle.

What reviewers say

Excelente vino, me gusto mucho. Púrpura con bordes y punta dejando el violeta. Aroma a frutos negros con mentales, es un vino potente en boca

From a top-rated Vivino review for this bottle.

Summary

Deep cherry red color of high layer, bright. Intense aroma of ripe fruit and new wood of great quality. Gorgeous and intense, with elegant aromas, fimos and very balanced. In the mouth it is lightly sweet with a lot of persistence. Very balanced between the acidity, the sweet tannins of the wood, the fruit and everything as a whole.

Bosque de Matasnos Bosque de Matasnos Etiqueta Blanca is a red from Ribera del Duero, Spain. It blends Merlot and Tempranillo.

2,714 Vivino reviewers rate with enough spread for a personal baseline to be measured, and those are the ones the calibrated score reads; a separate, broader pool of 2,820 reviewers with at least two ratings each feeds the raw-average track. 177 other reds from Spain form the cohort it is ranked inside.

How the score was built

We compare the reviewers of this bottle against every other wine those same people reviewed. Each review is scored relative to the reviewer's own baseline — four stars from someone who hands out fives means something very different from four stars from someone who rarely goes above three. Every reviewer then counts the same, so the result is a calibrated consensus rather than a star average.

In-cohort percentile
The same comparison narrowed to its cohort — wines of the same type from the same country. A Chilean red is judged against Chilean reds, not against Champagne. Ranked against Red · España (178 wines).
AI-adjusted percentile
The same reviewer-normalized score, corrected for how much confidence the sample supports: thin samples are pulled toward the corpus average. Each wine keeps the share n / (n + 53) of its measured distance from the average, where n is its calibrated-reviewer count, and the result is ranked on the same scale as the global percentile.53 is the median sample size across everything we rank. Here n is 2,714.
