Summary
In 1950s New York City, tensions escalate between two rival street gangs: the white working-class Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. Amid the turf war, Tony, a former Jet, falls in love at first sight with Maria, the sister of the Sharks' leader Bernardo. Their forbidden romance unfolds against a backdrop of prejudice and gang violence, told through song and dance.
