Summary
When Detective Sergeant Michael Colefield's closest friend and colleague Jack Beresford vanishes on the eve of his wedding, Colefield's search leads him to a covert, Vatican-backed squad operating out of London. Its members, an ex-SAS soldier, a haematologist and a Catholic priest, hunt a species of predator they refuse to call vampires, referring to them only as Code Fives or leeches, and fight them with carbon rounds, allicin gas and forensic science rather than folklore. Drawn into the unit, Colefield struggles with its ruthless methods and with what has become of his friend. Joe Ahearne's six-part Channel 4 series plays the material as a clinical conspiracy thriller.
