Summary
Private eye Philip Marlowe gives his friend Terry Lennox a late-night ride to Tijuana, only to find himself hounded by cops who say Lennox murdered his wife before killing himself in Mexico. Refusing to buy the official story, Marlowe drifts through 1970s Los Angeles tangling with a violent gangster and a troubled alcoholic novelist as he tries to figure out what really happened to his friend.
