Summary
In Song dynasty China, two European mercenaries searching for black powder are captured by an elite military order defending the Great Wall against a horde of monstrous creatures that besiege the fortification every sixty years. One of the mercenaries is drawn into the order's cause and must choose between escaping with the gunpowder or helping repel the assault.
