Summary
Nicholas Van Orton, a wealthy and emotionally detached San Francisco investment banker, receives an unusual birthday gift from his younger brother: an invitation to participate in a mysterious live-action game run by a company called Consumer Recreation Services. As the game begins to invade every corner of his carefully controlled life, Nicholas can no longer tell where reality ends and the game begins.
