Summary
Steve McGarrett, played by Jack Lord, heads Five-O, a fictional Hawaii state police unit that answers only to the governor and takes the cases the Honolulu force cannot. Working from an office in Iolani Palace alongside detective Danny 'Danno' Williams and local officers Chin Ho Kelly and Kono Kalakaua, he pursues killers, smugglers and organised crime across Oahu. Running beneath the weekly cases is McGarrett's long duel with Wo Fat, a Chinese intelligence agent who treats the islands as a Cold War front. The CBS procedural ran twelve seasons, shot on location, opening with Morton Stevens's theme over a breaking wave.
