Summary
In pre-revolutionary France, two scheming aristocrats, the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont, use seduction as a weapon in a cruel game of manipulation. Merteuil challenges Valmont to corrupt a virtuous young wife, Madame de Tourvel, while also plotting to ruin a naive convent girl. As Valmont pursues his conquests, genuine feelings complicate the wager with devastating consequences.
