Detroit cop Axel Foley travels to Beverly Hills to investigate the murder of a close friend. Teaming up uneasily with the buttoned-down local police, his street-smart tactics clash with their by-the-book approach as he uncovers a smuggling operation run by a wealthy art dealer.
