Summary
A biographical portrait of Harvey Pekar, a file clerk at a Cleveland VA hospital whose mundane frustrations and observations become the basis for his cult underground comic book series. The film blends dramatized scenes starring Paul Giamatti with documentary footage of the real Pekar, following his friendship with cartoonist Robert Crumb, his courtship of bookstore clerk Joyce Brabner, and his uneasy brushes with fame on Late Night with David Letterman.
