Is Pioneer Block 9 Big John Riesling a good wine?
What reviewers say
“Seriously good. Decent example of the sort of Riesling that NZ can produce these days. Quite gentle in some ways, but decent whack of acidity too. Green yellow colour. Subtle nose with some citrus and a pleasant whiff of petrol. On the palate I'm finding honey dew melon, a touch of nectarine, and then a punch of lemon (in a nice way). It has a delightfully oily mouthfeel and a surprisingly long finish. The acidity is well balanced. It was overpowered by my home made sausage ragu. Never mind.”
From a top-rated Vivino review for this bottle.
Summary
Colour: Pale gold. Aroma: Intense aromas of lime and grapefruit leap from the glass with subtle hints of mandarin and apricot to give a complete complex nose.
