What reviewers say
“This 2020 ‘Marko’ by Oxer Bastegieta is still a great value wine. It’s an unfiltered blend of Hondarrabi Zuri, HR Zerratia and Izkiriota Handia from Kortezubi.”
From a top-rated Vivino review for this bottle.
Summary
Marko is a white wine from the D.O. Bizkaiko Txakolina produced by Oxer Bastegieta in Kortezubi, Biscay. Oxer Belastegi is himself from Kortezubi and began producing Chacolí in the family wineries. They currently work with 5 hectares of vineyards, divided across 8 different plots, all of which are cultivated and worked organically. The planted varieties are the native Hondarribi Zuri, Hondarribi Zuri Zerratie (Petit Corbou), y Iztiriota ttipia (Petit Manseng). The harvest is carried out manually. Marko is pressed and ferments in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for 3 months with its fine lees to give it slightly more volume. Marko is a Chacolí that has a good balance between acidity and volume which makes it enjoyable, while its short ageing gives it a slightly complexity.
Oxer Wines Marko is a white from Bizkaiko Txakolina, Spain. It blends Petit Manseng and Petit Courbu.
427 Vivino reviewers rate with enough spread for a personal baseline to be measured, and those are the ones the calibrated score reads; a separate, broader pool of 433 reviewers with at least two ratings each feeds the raw-average track. 778 other whites from Spain form the cohort it is ranked inside.
How the score was built
We compare the reviewers of this bottle against every other wine those same people reviewed. Each review is scored relative to the reviewer's own baseline — four stars from someone who hands out fives means something very different from four stars from someone who rarely goes above three. Every reviewer then counts the same, so the result is a calibrated consensus rather than a star average.
- Global percentile
- Where Oxer Wines Marko lands against every wine we rank.
- In-cohort percentile
- The same comparison narrowed to its cohort — wines of the same type from the same country. A Chilean red is judged against Chilean reds, not against Champagne. Ranked against White · España (779 wines).
- AI-adjusted percentile
- The same reviewer-normalized score, corrected for how much confidence the sample supports: thin samples are pulled toward the corpus average. Each wine keeps the share n / (n + 53) of its measured distance from the average, where n is its calibrated-reviewer count, and the result is ranked on the same scale as the global percentile.53 is the median sample size across everything we rank. Here n is 427.
