Is Reserva a good wine?
What reviewers say
“In Spain this wine is under $10 and in US slightly over $15, I just cannot wrap my head around it, I may reconsider moving to Portugal, instead just make Rioja the home base.”
From a top-rated Vivino review for this bottle.
Summary
Smooth and elegant, displaying a great potential for aging, typical of the Tempranillo variety. Its red cherry colour is of medium intensity, clear and bright, proceeded by very complex and intense flavours which are perfectly blended, such as ripe fruit (prunes and raisins) and fine aromas of the aging in French oak (spices, herbs, blond tobacco). In the palate, it displays a powerful structure of rounded tannins that will lead to a very good progression. It matches especially well with roasted lamb, cutlets barbecued over vine shoots, fish with sauce recipes as well as smoked and cured cheese.
Muriel Reserva is Tempranillo grown in Rioja, bottled as a red. The cheapest 750 ml listing found for it is $6.49, which puts the bottle in the under $15 band.
The calibrated figure is built from 2,672 of its Vivino reviewers. A broader pool of 2,771 reviewers with two or more ratings feeds the raw-average track instead. The cohort it is ranked inside holds 435 Spanish reds.
