Summary
Delia Balmer, a nurse in London, meets John Sweeney in a pub in the early 1990s and moves in with him, not knowing that he has already killed. This four-part ITV drama, adapted from Balmer's memoir Living With a Serial Killer, covers the years of coercion and violence that followed and then the far longer aftermath: detectives who found her difficult, a legal system that made her testify again and again over more than a decade, and a story about her own life she was never allowed to tell on her own terms. Anna Maxwell Martin plays Balmer and Shaun Evans plays Sweeney. It is a true-crime drama told from the survivor's side.
