Summary
Mei Lee, a confident 13-year-old Chinese-Canadian girl in early-2000s Toronto, discovers that she transforms into a giant red panda whenever her emotions run wild - a hereditary quirk passed down through the women in her family. As she navigates strict expectations from her mother, loyalty to her best friends, and an obsession with a boy band, Mei must decide whether to ritually seal away the panda or embrace it as part of who she is.
