Summary
Akira Kurosawa's transposition of Macbeth to feudal Japan. After a victorious battle, samurai general Washizu encounters a forest spirit who prophesies his rise to lord of Spider's Web Castle. Goaded by his ruthless wife, he murders his way to the throne, only to find that ambition, paranoia, and prophecy weave a trap he cannot escape.
