Summary
In the seaside town of Cherbourg, Genevieve, the teenage daughter of an umbrella shop owner, falls in love with Guy, a young auto mechanic. When Guy is drafted to serve in the Algerian War, the two lovers must part, and Genevieve discovers she is pregnant. As time passes and letters grow scarce, both face difficult choices about love, duty, and the futures they once imagined together.
