Summary
A grief-stricken inventor in 1899 New York builds a time machine to undo a personal tragedy, but discovers the past cannot be changed. Hurled far into the future, he lands in a world where humanity has split into the peaceful surface-dwelling Eloi and the predatory underground Morlocks, and must help the Eloi survive while searching for answers about why the past resists alteration.
