Summary
The BBC's cycle of feature-length Shakespeare adaptations, mounted for the 2012 Cultural Olympiad, films the second Henriad in four parts: Richard II, Henry IV Parts 1 and 2, and Henry V. Ben Whishaw plays the aesthete king whose deposition by Bolingbroke sets loose the dynastic guilt that shadows everything after it. Jeremy Irons is the ailing Henry IV and Tom Hiddleston his tavern-dwelling son Hal, pulled between Falstaff's Eastcheap and the demands of the crown.
