Summary
In early 18th-century England, the frail Queen Anne occupies the throne while her close friend Lady Sarah Churchill effectively governs the country during wartime. When Sarah's impoverished cousin Abigail arrives seeking work, she charms her way into the queen's affections, igniting a venomous rivalry between the two women for power and royal favor.
