Summary
During World War II, a hard-nosed U.S. Army major is assigned to train twelve convicted military prisoners, most facing execution or long sentences, for a near-suicidal commando raid on a chateau full of German officers behind enemy lines. He must mold the unruly, dangerous misfits into a functional unit while battling his own superiors, culminating in a daring assault deep in occupied France.
