Summary
Buck, a large domesticated dog, is stolen from his comfortable California home and shipped to the Yukon during the 1890s Gold Rush. He becomes a sled dog on a mail route before being taken in by a grieving adventurer named John Thornton, with whom he journeys into the uncharted wilderness and gradually discovers his ancestral, wilder nature.
