Summary
In late 1920s Kansas, high school sweethearts Bud Stamper and Deanie Loomis struggle to reconcile their intense desire for each other with the rigid sexual mores and parental pressures of their small town. As family expectations, repression, and the looming stock market crash pull them apart, both young lovers are pushed to emotional breaking points.
