Summary
Chien Fu (Jackie Chan) is an orphaned drudge at a provincial kung fu school, kept on as a punching bag for the students and a target for the instructors' tempers. He befriends a shabby old beggar, Pai Cheng-tien, who turns out to be the last surviving master of the Snake Fist style and who begins teaching him in secret, disguising the lessons as chores and play. Meanwhile the Eagle's Claw clan, led by the ruthless Sheng Kuan, is hunting down and killing every remaining Snake Fist practitioner, and the search closes on Chien Fu's town. Yuen Woo-ping's directorial debut is a Hong Kong kung fu comedy built on slapstick training sequences and elaborate animal-style choreography.
