Summary
Slough House is the shabby London annexe where MI5 dumps officers it cannot quite fire — agents who blew an operation, drank too much, or lost a disk on a train — and buries them in pointless paperwork under Jackson Lamb, a flatulent, contemptuous Cold War veteran. River Cartwright, exiled after a training exercise at Stansted goes publicly wrong, wants back into Regent's Park, where Second Desk Diana Taverner pursues her own agendas. When a young man is abducted by nationalists threatening to behead him on a livestream, the rejects land on a case the service would rather they left alone. Adapted from Mick Herron's novels, this espionage drama runs on office cruelty and bureaucratic infighting, with Gary Oldman as Lamb.
