Summary
Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly London moneylender played by Albert Finney, spends Christmas Eve dunning debtors, begrudging his clerk Bob Cratchit a lump of coal, and refusing his nephew Harry's dinner invitation. That night the chained ghost of his dead partner Jacob Marley appears in his chambers to warn him that three spirits will follow before dawn. Guided by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come, Scrooge is made to watch his own youth, the Cratchits' straitened holiday, and the shape of the years still ahead of him. Ronald Neame's musical adaptation of Dickens's A Christmas Carol sets the story to Leslie Bricusse songs, including 'Thank You Very Much.'
