Summary
Nick is an undercover Hong Kong police officer who has spent eight years embedded in a heroin syndicate, rising to become the trusted right hand of its boss, Quin. Ailing with diabetes and contemplating retirement, Quin starts grooming Nick as his successor, opening up the financing, the Golden Triangle refineries and the distribution network to a man whose loyalty is a fiction. At the same time Nick is drawn into the life of Fan, a neighbour and addict struggling to raise her daughter, which makes the human cost of the trade impossible to keep at arm's length. Derek Yee's Cantonese crime drama follows the drug's route from poppy field to street corner.
