Summary
Based on Marjane Satrapi's autobiographical graphic novel, this animated film follows a precocious young girl growing up in Tehran during the Islamic Revolution and the Iran-Iraq War. As repression tightens, her outspoken family sends her to Vienna as a teenager, where she struggles with alienation, identity, and heartbreak before returning to a changed Iran and ultimately deciding where she belongs.
