Summary
An 11-year-old boy responds to his social studies teacher's challenge to think of an idea that could change the world by devising 'pay it forward' - doing a major favor for three people who must then each help three others in turn. As he tries to put the plan into action, he also attempts to bring together his recovering alcoholic mother and his scarred, withdrawn teacher.
