Special-effects veterans Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage use their San Francisco workshop to put urban legends, movie stunts, viral videos and folk wisdom through improvised experiments, building rigs, crash dummies and scale replicas until each claim can be marked busted, plausible or confirmed. A second unit of Tory Belleci, Kari Byron and Grant Imahara works parallel myths, frequently ending in controlled explosions or high-speed impact tests. Episodes intercut shop fabrication with field trials at airfields, quarries and bomb ranges, showing the failed attempts as well as the successful ones. The Discovery Channel series ran from 2003 to 2016 and framed every myth as a hands-on engineering problem.
