Summary
In post-World War II Mississippi, two families - one white, one Black - work the same patch of Delta farmland and struggle with poverty, prejudice, and the brutal social order of the Jim Crow South. When two of their sons return from the war scarred by combat, an unlikely friendship between them collides with the violent racism of their community.
