Summary

In New York City, entomologist Susan Tyler genetically engineers a hybrid insect to wipe out disease-carrying cockroaches threatening children. Years later, the supposedly sterile species has survived, evolved, and learned to mimic its largest predator: humans. Susan, her husband, and a small group become trapped in the subway tunnels where the creatures now nest.
