In 1970s Venice Beach, three teenage surfers - Stacy Peralta, Tony Alva, and Jay Adams - revolutionize skateboarding with an aggressive, surf-inspired style as part of the Zephyr team coached by shop owner Skip Engblom. As their fame and rivalries grow, money, ego, and competing sponsorships strain the friendships that built the sport.
