Summary
An ancient Jack Crabb recounts his improbable life on the American frontier, recalling how he was raised by the Cheyenne after his family was killed, then drifted between white and Native American worlds as a gunfighter, snake-oil salesman, muleskinner, and reluctant scout for General Custer. His shifting allegiances give him a front-row seat to the era's brutal clashes, culminating at the Little Bighorn.
