Summary
In a small coastal town in northern Russia, a hot-tempered mechanic named Kolya battles a corrupt mayor who is using the legal system to seize his house and land. Kolya enlists an old army friend, now a Moscow lawyer, to fight back with leverage against the mayor, but personal betrayals and the crushing weight of state and church power grind the family down.
