Summary
The morning after a riot in a housing estate outside Paris, three friends move through the wreckage: Vinz, who is Jewish and looking for a fight, Hubert, a Black boxer whose gym was burned out, and Said, a fast-talking young man of Maghrebi descent. Their friend Abdel lies in a coma after a beating in police custody, and Vinz is carrying a revolver a policeman lost in the riot, swearing he will use it on a cop if Abdel dies. Over about twenty-four hours the three drift around the estate and then into central Paris, missing the last train home. Mathieu Kassovitz shot this French drama in black and white around the parable of a man falling from a building who keeps repeating, 'so far, so good'.
