Summary
During a yachting trip to a remote volcanic island off the Sicilian coast, a young woman named Anna mysteriously vanishes. Her fiance Sandro and her best friend Claudia search for her across Sicily, but as the search drags on, the two find themselves drawn into an uneasy romance that gradually displaces the missing woman from their thoughts. Antonioni uses the disappearance as a starting point to explore alienation, moral drift, and the emptiness of modern bourgeois life.
Released in 1960, L'Avventura is a drama, mystery and romance film.
