Summary
A small-town Pennsylvania detective, John Klute, travels to New York City to investigate the disappearance of a friend, with the only lead being a call girl named Bree Daniels who once received threatening letters from him. As Klute follows the trail through Manhattan's underworld, he and the wary, fiercely independent Bree are drawn into an uneasy intimacy while a stalker closes in on her.
