Summary
When his young son collapses and needs an urgent heart transplant that his HMO refuses to cover, blue-collar father John Q. Archibald reaches a breaking point and takes a hospital emergency room hostage to force his boy onto the donor list. As police negotiators and a media circus close in, the standoff becomes a flashpoint for outrage over the American health insurance system.
