Summary
At the height of the Cold War, the U.S. nuclear submarine Tigerfish is ordered on an urgent secret mission to a remote British weather station near the North Pole. Carrying a tight-lipped British agent, a Soviet defector, and a Marine captain, the commander must navigate under the polar ice while suspecting that a saboteur is aboard. The race to reach Ice Station Zebra becomes a tense East-West standoff over a downed satellite's recovery capsule.
