Summary
A recovering alcoholic woman is wrongfully evicted from her late father's California bungalow over an unpaid tax bill, and the house is auctioned to a proud former Iranian colonel who sees it as a path to restoring his exiled family's fortunes. As she fights to reclaim her home with the help of a sympathetic sheriff's deputy, the two families' competing claims spiral toward tragedy.
Released in 2003, House of Sand and Fog is a crime and drama film.
327 IMDb reviewers are calibrated for this title, and those are the ones the calibrated score reads; a separate, broader pool of 339 reviewers with at least two reviews each feeds the raw-average track. Its in-cohort standing is measured against the other 7,846 2000s films, not against the whole corpus. A second review pool sits behind it as well: 2,106 Rotten Tomatoes reviewers clear the same calibration test, and Rankquant scores them separately.
