Summary
Stanley Yelnats, a boy wrongly convicted of theft, is sent to Camp Green Lake, a brutal juvenile detention camp in the Texas desert where the warden forces boys to dig holes every day under the guise of building character. As Stanley befriends a quiet boy nicknamed Zero, he begins to suspect the warden is searching for something buried beneath the dry lakebed, a mystery tied to a generations-old family curse.
