Summary
Frank T. Hopkins, a half-Lakota former cavalry dispatch rider, travels with his mustang Hidalgo to the Arabian Peninsula in 1891 to compete in the Ocean of Fire, a grueling 3,000-mile survival race across the desert long reserved for purebred Arabian horses and their Bedouin riders. Battling sandstorms, sabotage, and his own past, Frank tries to prove that he and his mixed-breed pony belong among the world's greatest.
