Summary
Walt Kowalski, a cantankerous Korean War veteran and retired Ford autoworker, lives in Detroit as his neighborhood transforms into a predominantly Hmong community. When his prized 1972 Gran Torino is targeted by local gang members, Walt forms an unlikely bond with his teenage Hmong neighbor Thao and becomes protective of his family. As he mentors the boy, Walt confronts both the gang's violence and his own prejudices.
