Baz Luhrmann assembles restored archival footage of Elvis Presley — much of it shot for the documentaries Elvis: That's the Way It Is (1970) and Elvis on Tour (1972), together with unreleased material from the Presley vaults — into a single continuous concert rather than a biography. It centres on Presley's early-1970s return to live performance: the Las Vegas International Hotel residency and the touring years that followed, backed by the TCB Band, an orchestra and gospel backing groups.
