Summary
Gus Van Sant's quiet, observational drama follows several students through an ordinary day at a suburban American high school, drifting between their overlapping hallways and routines, before two classmates arrive armed and methodically carry out a shooting. Loosely inspired by Columbine, the film uses long tracking shots and non-professional actors to refuse easy explanation for the violence.
