Summary
Davey Stone, a 33-year-old alcoholic troublemaker with a tragic past, is sentenced to community service as the assistant to Whitey Duvall, an elderly, eternally optimistic youth basketball referee. Forced to confront the holiday season and the small-town residents he has alienated, Davey slowly begins to thaw under Whitey's relentless kindness.
