Summary
Set in a near-future Earth transformed by the arrival of multiple alien races and a terraforming catastrophe, the series follows Joshua Nolan, a human lawkeeper, and his adopted Irathient daughter Irisa as they try to maintain order in the frontier town of Defiance, built atop the ruins of St. Louis. Political intrigue between human and alien factions, led by mayor Amanda Rosewater and the powerful Tarr and McCawley families, drives the conflict.
